The Gunners will have to play against Sevilla without a key striker.
Eddie Nketiah was forced to miss a crucial training session for Arsenal ahead of their Champions League clash against Sevilla.
The Gunners are aiming for a second consecutive victory over the Spanish side in Group B, having won the reverse fixture 2-1.
With Gabriel Jesus already absent from the squad, Nketiah now faces a late fitness test after picking up a knock in the team’s recent 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United. Manager Mikel Arteta may have to consider alternative options for the striker position, possibly turning to Leandro Trossard or Kai Havertz.
Trossard, primarily a left-winger, has demonstrated his versatility by scoring four goals in 12 appearances this season. Havertz, who previously played as a centre-forward for Chelsea, has adapted to a more midfield-oriented role at Arsenal, but he might need to revert to his former position if Nketiah is unavailable.
Meanwhile, captain Martin Odegaard’s participation in the Champions League clash is also in doubt due to a hip injury that has kept him out of recent matches.
Arsenal hope to bounce back from their controversial defeat against Newcastle when they meet Sevilla. Following the UCL clash, the Gunners will return to the Premier League, where they will face Burnley on Saturday.
