The Gunners suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle defeated Arsenal 1-0 in their Premier League game on Saturday. The Magpies edged out their opponents in a tough battle on home soil.

What happened?

The game started with both sides trying to establish their dominance in midfield, failing to create almost any serious chances. As the half-time approached, cards began to flow as players from both sides committed a number of reckless fouls. However, the two sides eventually left the pitch without any goals or red cards.

The pace of the game increased dramatically at the beginning of the second period. Anthony Gordon and Gabriel Martinelli missed two golden chances to break the deadlock. But Newcastle finally scored the opener in the 64th minute.

St James’ Park erupted when Gordon converted Joelinton’s short pass from close range to make it 1-0 for the hosts. Arsenal pushed hard to get back into the game in the final 20 minutes. But the hosts kept them at bay as they didn’t allow Mikel Arteta’s men to find enough goalscoring opportunities.

Anthony Gordon made a perfect display for the Magpies as they defeated Arsenal. In addition to scoring Newcastle’s match-winning goal, his physical presence and quick runs put constant pressure on the Gunners’ backline throughout the match.
