Manchester United captain Harry Maguire will get an extended break from the club before being asked to resuming to training.
Harry Maguire will get some more time to recollect himself after his ongoing saga that saw him go on trial in Greece.
The 27-year-old was initially called up by Gareth Southgate to the England squad. Sadly, he had to be withdrawn from the plans following his public spat with the Greek police.
Maguire now faces a long court fight to clear his name completely of all allegations. Although, his legal team this week lodged an appeal against the conviction in Greece. The defender in an emotional interview with the BBC said he was scared for his life.
The United players will return to Carrington for pre-season training on Wednesday but their captain will not be present.
As per the Sun, Maguire will be given until the weekend at least to sort himself out some more.
The defender has been thankful to Ole Solskjaer and Gareth Southgate for their support over his legal fight.
It is understood United have no plans to strip Maguire of the captaincy. He is also expected to be reinstated into the England squad in October.
Maguire won’t be the only absentee when United players resume for pre-season training.
Paul Pogba is self-isolating from coronavirus and Wan-Bissaka must quarantine after returning from a holiday in Dubai.
