Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has revealed his excitement at the prospect of linking up with Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford.

Harry Maguire has lauded Jadon Sancho as an ‘exceptional talent’ and hopes Manchester United can get a deal done.

The Red Devils and Sancho’s club, Borussia Dortmund, have confirmed an agreement in principle for the 21-year-old winger. The deal will cost United around €85 million-plus add-ons.

The long-running transfer saga should be completed once Sancho has undergone a medical and signed a five-year contract, which may take place at the end of the Euro 2020 tournament.

“Jadon is a top player, exceptional talent, a young lad with a lot of experience,” said Maguire in a press conference about his England teammate.

“His numbers speak for themselves, what he has done over in Germany. He is a great player.

“I don’t think it is a done deal yet. We can’t confirm he is a Manchester United player. I know it is close, but he is still a Dortmund player as it stands.

“Of course, it is exciting times ahead and hopefully we will get it across the line.”

For now, though, Maguire and Sancho’s focus will be on Wednesday’s semi-final clash with Denmark in Euro 2020.

England have reached the last four in the European Championship for only the third time, having previously done so in 1968 and 1996, and hope to claim a first title in the tournament this summer.
