The Red Devils captain has been criticized by a former club great for arguing over a penalty decision in the stalemate on Sunday.

Rio Ferdinand feels Harry Maguire will be ’embarrassed’ after he was accused of diving during Manchester United’s 1-1 Premier League draw with West Brom.

Mbaye Diagne put West Brom on the front foot inside the first two minutes of the match with Bruno Fernandes scoring a superb first-half volley to ensure a share of the spoils.

Maguire thought he had won his side a penalty in the second-half when he went down in the area. The referee did point to the spot initially but later resigned his decision after a VAR check.

The world’s costliest defender was furious that the penalty didn’t stand as he was ‘certain’ of having been fouled by Semi Ajayi.

“If Harry’s being honest, he will have woke up the next morning and been embarrassed with what he did,” Ferdinand said about the incident, on his YouTube show Vibe with FIVE.

“It’s not what you want to see from a defender. I don’t think that’s what he’s prided himself on throughout his career.

“You try and be cute, I understand that, but you would be embarrassed really. He will watch it back and go, ‘bloody hell, what was I thinking?’”
