The Manchester United captain once again made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo both had nights to forget as Manchester United crashed out of the Champions League.

The Red Devils lost their last-16 tie against Atletico Madrid 2-1 on aggregate after Renan Lodi’s goal at Old Trafford earned Diego Simeone’s men a 1-0 win during Tuesday’s second-leg.

Out of the pair, however, Maguire arguably had the worst time. The Englishman had some clumsy moments on both ends of the pitch. One of them even left Ronaldo, his own teammate, in pain.

During a set-piece in the second half, Maguire accidentally but inexplicably head-butted Ronaldo.

Ronaldo fell to the ground, clutching his jaw in pain from what clearly was a hefty whack. He tried to head the ball moments later, but he was seen holding his jaw again when the ball went out of play.

It capped off yet another forgettable evening for Ronaldo at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese ace’s dreams of a sixth Champions League title will have to wait for another season at least – if United manage to finish in the top-four of the Premier League that is.

Ralf Rangnick’s side will resume their domestic campaign on April 2 in a home match against Leicester City.
