Manchester United knocked out of Champions League by Atletico.

Manchester United were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid with Renan Lodi scoring the only goal of the game.

Ralf Rangnick’s side came into the game following a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the tie, but Lodi’s first-half goal and some excellent goalkeeping from Jan Oblak was enough to see the visitors through to the next round of the Champions League.

United were on top for most of the first half and had some decent chances but failed to capitalize and were pegged back when Lodi found the back of the net in the 41st minute.

The second half saw Atletico frustrate the Red Devils to the very limit, with a number of yellow cards dished out to both sides. United looked to be struggling and even substitutions made by Rangnick failed to inspire the team to find a goal.

What’s next for United?

The Red Devils will be back in action in the Premier League on April 2 when they host Leicester City at Old Trafford. The upcoming international break will give the players time to recharge as the battle for top four heats up.

United are currently fifth on the league table, one point behind Arsenal, who have three games in hand.
