Johan Cruijff Arena was the place where the Netherlands got a visit from Macedonia in the last Euro 2020 group match. Player ratings.

The Netherlands needed to defeat Macedonia today in order to secure the top spot inside Group C at the Euro 2020. They played at Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam for the last game before the tournament’s knock out stage. There were a number of players who left their mark in this game for different reasons. Let’s start with the man of the match: Georginio Wijnaldum proved he is still on fire with a brace and a top performance against Macedonia. He is always on time to get the most important goals as he proved it during just minutes before the full hour of the game.

Before that, the first half brought us a brilliant performance from Memphis Depay. The most recent FC Barcelona transfer scored the opening goal and set Wijnaldum for his first of the evening. He was always on point with his dribbles on the wing and proved to have an explosive sprint throughout the match. Frenkie de Jong was also one of the standout performers for the Netherlands this evening. He was always commanding in midfield and hardly ever lost a ball.

Goran Pandev makes history with Macedonia.

As the most important player in North Macedonia’s history, tonight was the perfect day for Goran Pandev to bid farewell to his national team. With his country already eliminated from the Euros, the manager gave the player some time to say goodbye in proper fashion. Even Wesley Sneijder was on the stands waiting for his old friend to leave the pitch. As he walked towards the bench, all his teammates started hugging him.

Even though the Netherlands played a dominating match tonight, Goran Pandev stole all our hearts with his goodbye. After the match ended, we have the Dutch taking the top spot inside Group C and they are looking strong for the knockout stage at the Euros. Players like Wijnaldum, Depay, and De Jong will be very important for their team’s aspirations in this tournament. In other results from the same group, Austria defeated Ukraine 1-0 and they take the second spot. Andryi Shevchenko’s players wait for the group stage to end before claiming one of the tournament’s best third places.
