An ecstatic Lukaku spoke to reporters after helping Inter Milan end an 11-year wait for Serie A glory.

Romelu Lukaku has seemingly ruled out a summer exit by claiming he has enjoyed ‘the best year of my career’ and is ‘truly proud to play for Inter Milan’.

The former Manchester United striker is arguably in the best form of his career and played a key role in ending Juventus’ dominance in Italy by firing Inter to the Scudetto this season.

His impressive performances have led reports to link him with a Premier League return to either Manchester City or former club Chelsea.

But a clearly elated Lukaku appears to have no plans on leaving San Siro anytime soon. He even took to the Milan streets to celebrate with the fans after Atalanta’s 1-1 draw with Sassuolo confirmed Inter as Serie A champions.

“I am so happy for all the Inter fans in the world, for the team, the staff, the president, and everyone,” Lukaku told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a wonderful year for us, I am truly proud to play for Inter. I wanted to come out here and celebrate along with the people. I told my friend this was the best way to experience it, to be there with the fans.

“For me and many of my teammates, this is our first league title, so it’s a moment we wanted to share with them.”

Asked if this was his best season, Lukaku replied: “Last year was good too, but yes, this was the best of my career.

“It’s wonderful and I hope to continue like this. I want to thank everyone, I am truly so happy.”
