The Belgian striker extends a message of support to his Inter Milan teammate who met with a horrifying accident at Parken Stadium.

Romelu Lukaku paid tribute to Christian Eriksen after getting on the scoresheet in the Euro 2020 Group B fixture Belgium vs Russia.

Lukaku opened the scoring for Belgium within just 10 minutes of kick-off, firing home from close range after latching onto a Dries Mertens delivery inside the box.

The striker, after gesturing his oncoming Belgium teammates to wait, then wheeled away towards the nearest pitchside camera, grabbed it with both his hands and shouted: “Chris, Chris, I love you.”

Eriksen was rushed to the hospital after he dropped to the ground and went unconscious in the second half of Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland. Danish as well as Finnish fans chanted the player’s name in unison as he stretchered off the pitch.

The Danish Football Association shortly confirmed the midfielder had awaken and that he was in a stable condition.

Denmark vs Finland was completed on Saturday night, with a sole goal from Joel Pohjanpalo proving enough for the latter to earn all three points.
