Now that we know he isn’t going to Juventus, we tell you all about Luis Suarez’s three options for the summer transfer window.
Luis Suarez’s transfer to Juventus fell apart last Tuesday. The Uruguay international wasn’t able to secure the Italian passport that would’ve allowed him to play for the ‘Old Lady’. This leaves him with some other options that we are about to discuss.
Although he is not wanted by Ronald Koeman at the moment, there is always the chance of him staying to live out the rest of his contract at Barcelona. This is the first and more logical option for Suarez. Being friends with Leo Messi is what helps Luis in this situation.
The Argentine star is still pushing for his best friend to remain at the club. However, there are two other options that we need to discuss and might also be interesting for the Uruguay native.
‘Cholo’ Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
Option number one is the dumbest for Barcelona. Atletico Madrid is arguably a place where Luis would shine. Diego Simeone’s physical preparation with ‘Profe’ Ortega is well-known for recovering veteran players who seem finished. The ‘Colchoneros’ are amongst the few places that fit Suarez’s combative style of play.
Furthermore, ‘Cholo’ has been looking for a striker with his characteristics for some time now. This could be a massive blow for Barcelona because they would gift a direct title contender a sharpened weapon to hurt them. From a strategic standpoint, this is the worst option for the club yet a great one for the player.
Barcelona is already in contact with the ‘Colchoneros’ but the transfer would be complicated to make. First of all, both Diego Costa and Alvaro Morata need to leave the club. After that happens, money won’t be an issue. Diario AS reports that Luis Suarez loves the idea of playing under Simeone.
To Paris with Neymar.
The third option is the most flamboyant of them all but not impossible. The idea of playing next to Neymar once again is appealing to Luis Suarez. As we all know, they were virtually unstoppable at FC Barcelona. Bringing back old memories could serve them both well at a different club.
Although they wouldn’t have Messi with them, it’s certainly true that they would still have a lot of fun playing together. Plus, Suarez also loves the idea of playing alongside Kylian Mbappe before he retires. The obstacles he faces to make this happen are related to logistics more than anything else.
Moving from Barcelona to Paris won’t be easy but the hassle might be worth it in the end. But again, staying at his current club appears to be the most viable option for Suarez right now.
Which of these options is better for Luis Suarez?
