Not being able to secure his Italian nationality was the final verdict on Luis Suarez’s transfer to Juventus. He will stay in Barceloa, for now.

Luis Suarez was hoping he could get a technicality out of the way in order to get a little closer to Juventus. FC Barcelona already told the Uruguay international that they didn’t want him at the club. But the final decision didn’t depend on them.

The South American striker was in advanced talks with the ‘Old Lady’ but the issue of his nationality came into the picture. As it turns out, Luis needs to have the Italian passport in order to sign for Juventus.

The striker has the opportunity to get one due to his heritage but it can’t happen before the market closes (October 5). This is the reason that both sides have given up on the transfer and the reason Barcelona is back to the start.

Suarez has less than three weeks to find a new destination or he will have to remain at the club for his final season. This report came from RAC1 in Catalunya but it forces Barcelona to seek for a different approach.

Koeman is willing to keep Suarez.

Another report from Diario Sport revealed that Ronald Koeman has been flirting with the idea of keeping Luis Suarez. The Dutch manager knows that getting rid of him won’t be as easy as expected.

Although he doesn’t want the player inside his roster, his departure is turning more complicated by the minute. This prompted the Dutchman to approach ‘Lucho’ to let him know he will play his final season if he doesn’t sort out his future.

If this happens, all those promises to renew the squad will be nothing but false promises from the board of directors. We will have more of the same in Barcelona for the next 10 months.

In the end, we might have to wait and see what Koeman can do with what he has at the club. This situation only serves Suarez, who didn’t want to leave in the first place.

Will Suarez solve his situation at FC Barcelona before the market closes?
