After another midfield injury setback, Liverpool are on the verge of sealing a late loan deal for Arthur.

Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo is close to joining Liverpool on loan for the 2022/23 season.

That’s according to The Athletic. The reports claims the loan deal won’t include a buy option. Arthur will simply spend the season at Anfield and return to Juventus afterward. He is currently on his way to Liverpool to complete the move before the transfer window shuts at 11 pm UK time tonight.

The surprise move comes after Reds captain Jordan Henderson picked up a hamstring injury Wednesday’s the 2-1 win over Newcastle, leaving the club short of midfield options.

Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are the other midfielders currently sidelined for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Arthur will hope to get a run in the Liverpool line-up after failing to play for Juventus all season. The Brazilian might make his debut against Everton on Saturday for a Merseyside derby.
