Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided an update on the club’s plans for the January transfer market.

A lot of speculation has been raised around Liverpool’s weakened defense lately. Jurgen Klopp’s side has had to face several injuries in the past few months, losing both their regular center-backs to long-term knee injuries. Naturally, the Reds have been linked with several defenders ever since, including Lille’s Sven Botman, Ajax’s Perr Schuurs, and Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos.

However, Jurgen Klopp has done his best to dismiss transfer rumors. In fact, he recently stated Liverpool had enough solutions in their current squad. Moreover, the German manager offered another update on his latest pre-match press conference.

“No, I cannot say definitely we will not bring anyone in, it’s just not likely because of the situation in the world,” said Jurgen.

Klopp explained that if this injury crisis had appeared in a normal season, the club would’ve searched for solutions in the transfer market.

“We should not forget that the situation is a tough one for all people and for football clubs as well. So, if the world would be in a ‘normal’ place, let me say it like this, everything would be fine. Is that a situation [the injury crisis] where usually we would do something? Yes, definitely.

“But we are not in that situation so I don’t know if something will happen or not. Then we have to deal with the situation how we did it so far and have to get through this. It’s not the best moment for the whole planet, so why should it be for a football club?”

Jurgen Klopp has received a boost from the medical department.

This Thursday, Liverpool’s boss also hinted that he may be receiving a ‘new’ center-back from within the club. Joel Matip will be assessed by the medical department as he recovers from his adductor injury. The 29-year-old defender has been working hard to be fit for the Reds’ upcoming fixtures.

Until the United game, we still have nine days around about, so we try. He is in a good way but if it will be United or a few days later, I don’t know.”After the United game we will obviously play every three days again, so I think that’s pretty sure, but for the United game, we will see.”
