The Senegalese star scored a brace to send Liverpool into the FA Cup final.

Liverpool defeated Manchester City 3-2 in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday. The Reds went ahead with Ibrahima Konate’s early opener before Sadio Mane killed off the game with a first-half brace.

In a post-match interview, Jurgen Klopp praised the Senegal star for his impressive performance against the Citizens.

“He played an incredible game, an absolutely incredible game,” Klopp told the club website.

“He was the first player to start the press, so it was intense for him as well. The first goal he scored, I love it.”

The Senegal star doubled Liverpool’s lead with a clever tackle after City goalkeeper, Zack Steffen, made a deadly mistake in front of the goal.

He then scored Liverpool’s third goal with a stunning volley to put Liverpool 3-0 ahead before the interval.

City pushed hard to get back into the game but could not put more than two goals behind Liverpool’s net. The 3-2 win send

Speaking about Mane’s first goal, Klopp added: “I don’t like too much that the goalie will get some criticism for it, but it’s not about that because Zack can do what he wants in that situation, like Ederson did a week ago.

“These kind of things happen, with Ali and all these things. If you want to play football, that can happen.

“But the acceleration of Sadio, the desire to get there, it was really great. So this goal was great and the other one was obviously proper football until the final pass with the little chip and then the volley – it was a great goal.”

Liverpool will return to Premier League action with a match against Manchester United on Tuesday.
