The Liverpool manager was furious after his side dropped two crucial points in a controversial game.

Tottenham held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw in a crunch Premier League game on Sunday. The Reds were leading by a goal until the 74th minute, but Son Heung-min’s equalizer changed the game’s dynamic.

Only three minutes later, referee Paul Tierney sent Andrew Robertson off for a careless challenge on Emerson Royal. The decision was highly controversial due to Tierney’s inconsistency. Just a few minutes earlier, he did let Harry Kane escape with a yellow card for a similar foul.

After the final whistle, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confronted Tierney on the pitch.

He told the official: “I have no problems with any referees. Only you,”

In a post-match interview, the German manager reacted to Kane’s challenge.

“Yes, definitely [Kane should have been shown a red card],” Klopp told Sky Sports (via Evening Standard). “We can give Robbo a red card, it’s not the smartest challenge of his life, that’s how it is. But that’s [Kane on Robertson] definitely a red card, no doubt about that.

“People will say his leg is in the air, but that’s pure coincidence. Harry cannot judge that and if Robbo’s leg is on the ground, then it’s a broken leg, no doubt about that.”

He added: “I really have no idea what his [Tierney] problem is with me. Honestly, I have no idea.

“You just need an objective ref who sees the situations and trust them. He told me that he thinks he [Jota] stops on purpose. That’s incredible.

“He had the best spot on the pitch, he was eight yards away and doesn’t give it. We have to ask him, what’s his problem.”

Man City extended their lead on top of the table as they smashed Newcastle 4-1 earlier on Sunday. Liverpool will now prepare to face Leicester City in a Carabao Cup game on Wednesday.
