Unable to maintain the same standards as the last campaign in this one, the Reds suffered another setback in their title defense.

Liverpool have failed to score in three consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since March 2005 after being held to a goalless draw against Manchester United.

Liverpool started the match with a three-point deficit over the league leaders and missed a golden opportunity to cut down that gap.

Jurgen Klopp’s men had more control of the ball, having 66 percent possession, made more passes (662), took more shots (17), but failed to beat David de Gea.

The 0-0 result saw them drop to fourth in the league table, still trailing leaders Man United by three points and a point behind second-placed Leicester City.

The Reds have now failed to get a favorable result in each of their last four league outings ever since thrashing Crystal Palace 7-0, registering a 1-1 draw against West Brom, suffering a narrow defeat to Southampton, and being held to a draw against Newcastle United prior to Sunday’s game.

Speaking of the positives, Liverpool extended their unbeaten streak at Anfield to an incredible 68 Premier League games, having last suffered a home defeat Crystal Palace in April 2017.
