The Reds were a model of consistency last time out but they have exhibited to a great extent an inability to grind out results this term.

Jordan Henderson insists Liverpool are taking one game at a time in the Premier League campaign.

Liverpool were humbled 4-1 by Manchester City in their previous outing which marked their third successive defeat at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s men dropped 15 points in total in their title-winning season, and they have already lost almost double that amount after only 23 matches this season.

Apart from consistency issues, an injury crisis has also contributed vastly to their faltering title defense. Virgil van Dijk is still on sidelines as is Joe Gomez while several others have been to the treatment table.

Liverpool find themselves 10 points adrift of the top of the table, but Henderson insist his side ‘don’t look at the league’.

The skipper told the club’s official website: “I remember last season you kept asking me when we were top of the league – we don’t look at the league, now especially.

“You concentrate on the next game and just try to win every single game you can, like we always do whether that’s when you’re on top or you’re fourth or fifth or whatever it is.

“You’ve just got to concentrate on the next game and put in performances as much as we can.”
