The Reds have got preparations for the 2023/24 campaign well and truly underway by sealing their signing of the summer transfer window.
Liverpool have signed midfielder Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. The deal, which will cost an initial £35 million, could reportedly rise up to £55 million.
Mac Allister, who helped Brighton qualify for the Europa League with a sixth-place Premier League and won the World Cup with Argentina last season, expressed his excitement about joining the Merseyside club.
“I can’t wait to get started,” the 24-year-old told the club’s website. “It’s a dream come true and I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates.”
Mac Allister is eager to win more trophies and believes Liverpool is the club to help him achieve that goal. “When you are in a big club like this one you have to win trophies. So, that’s what I want,” he said.
The midfielder is also impressed with the size of the club and the quality of the players and staff, adding: “Since I arrived here, I can see how big this club is — the players we have, the staff, everyone. I’m really pleased and looking forward to playing for this club.”
Mac Allister managed 20 goals and nine assists in 112 appearances for Brighton across all competitions.
