Liverpool continue their perfect record in the Champions League by beating a ten-man Rojiblancos on home soil.

Liverpool defeated Atletico Madrid with a 2-0 result on Wednesday. The Reds displayed a solid attacking performance while Atletico lacked enough composure to convert their chances.

The Reds in control

Liverpool started the game with dominance and got their opening goal early on. Diogo Jota converted Trent Alexander-Arnold’s perfect assist to make it 1-0 for Liverpool in the 13th minute.

Liverpool used the Anfield atmosphere to the advantage, doubling their lead only eight minutes later. After a brilliant buildup, Sadio Mane scored for the Reds as Trent Alexander-Arnold registered his second assist of the night.

Atletico were shocked when the referee sent Felipe off after kicking Mane’s back. Being a man down, the Rojiblancos tried to be as efficient as possible in the final third. However, they couldn’t get closer to scoring than registering a disallowed goal through Luis Suarez.

Liverpool continue to lead Group B with nine points from their three games. securing their place in the knock-out stage. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid slipped to third place as they now see Porto above them.
