In a touching tribute through his Instagram page, Lionel Messi said his last goodbye to legendary Diego Maradona after his passing.
No other player can have a similar connection to Diego Maradona than Lionel Messi. Sergio Aguero is the father of the late great’s grandson, but Messi has been compared to him throughout his entire life. A stigma with which Leo will have to live forever and a comparison he always rejected.
Even if it’s hard to believe, Messi still thinks the greatest player in football history is Diego. The rest of the world will keep on saying the Barcelona star is the best-ever, but Messi was born in Argentina. Children from that country grow up with this notion of Maradona as the GOAT and Messi is no different.
It was only logical we would get a heartfelt reaction from the star on his Instagram account after his passing: “It’s a sad day for every Argentine and a sad day for football. He departs but he never leaves because Diego is eternal. I stay with all those beautiful moments I lived with him. I also want to send my condolences to all his family and friends.”
