Ciutat de Valencia Stadium was the place where Levante received a visit from FC Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga. We got player ratings.

After another forgettable evening against Levante, FC Barcelona might be officially out of the race for La Liga. The Catalan club found new hope after Real Madrid’s draw against Sevilla last weekend but they weren’t able to win tonight. All three clubs at the top of the table have been mediocre in their quest to win the title. This is a major sign of a steady decline in Spanish football’s level of performance over the last five years.

The highest level is definitely in England right now, with Spain even falling to third behind Germany at the moment. Tonight, the Blaugrana proved they can’t secure a result despite getting a clear advantage in the first half. There is a clear disconnect from the players with what their manager is asking after the break and they always bottle the result. Messi and Pedri offered signs of a squad that seemed dominant during the first 45 minutes of the game. But everything crumbled down after the break at Ciutat de Valencia Stadium.

Barcelona got lost in the second half.

Right after the break, there was an evident dip in form by Barcelona that Levante enjoyed. Defensive mistakes galore took over the Catalan club as they allowed two goals before the tenth minute mark from Melero and Morales to tie the game. Even though Barcelona responded with Ousmane Dembele’s goal, the Blaugrana seemed unfocused for the rest of the second half.

Leon scored the equalizer once again and squashed any dream Barcelona fans had of getting the title this season. Atletico Madrid will have to play against Real Sociedad tomorrow and Granada gets a visit from Real Madrid on Thursday. La Liga is still wide open for any club right now but Barcelona missed a great chance tonight against Levante. It appears the trophy will end up in the Spanish capital when everything is said and done.
