Brendan Rodgers revealed to the press that Leicester’s star Jamie Vardy is set to have a long overdue operation.

Leicester have been a top-notch side this season and it is partly due to Jamie Vardy’s great performances. The English striker has scored 11 times in the Premier League this season, contributing for his team’s third place in the league.

In fact, Leicester are only two points behind current leaders Manchester United. However, keeping their spot in the top three just got a little bit harder after Brendan Rodgers gave the press an injury update.

Jamie Vardy will be sidelined for a few weeks. The player will need to undergo surgery to fix a minor hernia issue.

“We have a window now that allows him to have a minor operation on his hernia and then he’ll be back within a few weeks,” said Rodgers. “He’ll be out for that period.

This naturally means that Vardy will be sidelined for the next Premier League matches, including Everton and Leeds. Moreover, it also means that Jamie Vardy might not be able to take part in some important fixtures. This includes the games against Liverpool or the Europa League’s Round of 32. Nevertheless, Brendan Rodgers underlined the importance of the operation.

“It’s one that doesn’t keep him out for too long, it’s just a repair in and round that hernia area. It’s one we feel he can’t really put it off much longer.

“We were hoping to do it a few weeks back, but this is the window where we can get it done and that will obviously leave him with a good part of the season where he can be really influential for us.”
