Leeds United and Leicester City lock horns on Monday night for their first Premier League clash since 2004.

The two clubs meet at Elland Road on the back of eventful starts to their respective campaigns. Leeds, for one, have won three of their six games and been one of the most entertaining sides. While Leicester have pulled off their fair share of upsets to embark on another potential top-four chase.

Recent history also favors the Foxes in this encounter, having won seven of their previous 15 meetings (D6 L2). A lot has changed since the last match in October 2017, though, with both sides very different now.

But, most importantly, the clash has the makings of an excellent game that will hopefully supply plenty of goals as well.

Leeds United Form & Stats

Perhaps the one downside to Leeds’ impressive start back in the Premier League is that expectations are now higher, leading to more pressure. But while that may be true, it certainly didn’t show in their last match.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side stormed to an impressive 3-0 away win over fellow high-flyers Aston Villa, with Patrick Bamford grabbing a hat-trick. They also held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw and proved their mettle at Liverpool in a narrow 4-3 loss.

Three of their next four fixtures, however, will be a challenge in Arsenal, Everton, and Chelsea. These games could make a telling impact on their campaign. Therefore, they’ll be keen to begin on a winning note – starting with Leicester on Monday.

On the bright side, Bielsa has confirmed skipper and defender Liam Cooper will be available for selection after overcoming a groin injury.

Key Team Stats
  • Won just one of their three home league games this season (D1 L1).
  • Haven’t beaten Leicester in any competition since 2012.
  • Scored in 14 of their last 15 games in all competitions.
  • Patrick Bamford has scored six goals in his six league games this season.

Leicester City Form & Stats

The visitors, meanwhile, head to Elland Road on the back of three consecutive wins in all competitions. Their 1-0 success away to Arsenal, in particular, stood out. Now it’s about breaking back into the top-four.

Even a point on Monday could be enough for Leicester to achieve their aim, although it’s unlikely they’ll settle for that.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are on a mission to make up for lost ground after suffering surprise back-to-back home defeats to West Ham and Aston Villa as they seek a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2016/17.

Although Rodgers, like his Leeds counterpart Bielsa, will be wary of some challenging fixtures to come in Wolves and Liverpool.

Key Team Stats
  • Won their last three away league games.
  • Won seven of their last 15 games against Leeds in all competitions (D6 L2).
  • Scored 11 goals in their last four away games in all competitions.
  • Jamie Vardy has scored six goals in five league games this season.
