Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto was taken to the hospital this Tuesday evening and quickly underwent surgery.

Luis Alberto was taken to a clinic in Rome as he required an emergency appendectomy this Tuesday night. The Spanish midfielder shared a picture at home with his family just hours before the news broke out. Additionally, the highly-rated player’s surgery went according to plan and his appendix was quickly removed.

Lazio recently released a statement on the matter where they disclosed Luis Alberto’s current status.

“Luis Alberto underwent emergency surgery at the Clinica Paideia for acute appendicitis this evening. The operation, which was a complete success, was performed by Doctor Marco Catarci and his team in the presence of Doctor Fabio Rodia. The player will be monitored in the clinic to calculate how long it will be before he can resume his sporting activity.”

The news also comes as a huge blow for Lazio. The 28-year-old has been performing at a high level this season. In fact, Alberto scored a brace last Friday against club rivals AS Roma on their impressive 3-0 win. Nevertheless, the attacking midfielder is expected to make his return in less than two weeks if his recovery goes according to plan.

We at Ace Football wish Luis Alberto a speedy recovery.
