Roma head coach Paulo Fonseca has had his press conference ahead of the big derby against Lazio on Friday night.

Paulo Fonseca has confirmed the availability of Spanish forward Pedro for the upcoming Derby della Capitale tomorrow evening.

Roma will meet their crosstown rivals Lazio for the first time this season, after both games ended in a 1-1 draw last term.

The Giallorossi are heading into the game from the third position, six behind leaders AC Milan. Lazio, on the other hand, trail by six behind their big rivals and sit in 8th place on the Serie A standings.

Fonseca had his press conference ahead of the derby and reminded his rivals that they are yet to beat him as AS Roma coach.

“We all know it’s an important match for everyone. We are playing for three points and we want to win,” Paulo said via Football-Italia.

“Ambitions must always be present, we can’t lack this,” Fonseca added. “We always want to win, but we are thinking about one game at a time.

“In the match against Inter, we finished growing. I think sometimes the psychological aspect affects us more.

“We are working on getting more and more continuity, we analysed Sunday’s game and I think the lads understood what it takes to always have the same intensity on the pitch.”

The Portuguese coach know the potential danger Lazio could cause his side on the counterattack. He admits he has worked with his players on how to stop their fast transition.

“They have Milinkovic and Luis Alberto, who are very strong, as are their forwards. We have worked with both their team and their individuals in mind.

“The quick exit is one of the most evident characteristics in Italy, all the teams are strong.

“Lazio always come out strong on the counterattack, we worked on how to counter them.”
