David Silva’s surprise move to Real Sociedad has reportedly left Lazio, who were favorites to sign him, fuming at his behavior.

A move to Lazio last week seemed set for David Silva upon ending his decade-long spell at Manchester City earlier this month.

The Biancocelesti allegedly had a three-year deal ‘agreed’ with Silva worth €4m per season, which included perks like the use of a private jet. They even scheduled a medical examination in Rome.

Out of the blue, however, Silva rejected the Champions League outfit for a move to Real Sociedad. The LaLiga side made a late move for the Spaniard, tying him down to a two-year contract.  He also accepted lower wages compared to what he would’ve earned in the Italian capital.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Lazio are incensed by this turn of events. It’s alleged that Silva refused to answer any of their calls over the last few days, which led the club to hand him a 24-hour ultimatum on Sunday to decide once and for all.

Then, to their utter disbelief, Silva signed on the dotted line for La Real without informing them. In fact, they only found out once the Basque club announced the deal on the same day.

To be fair, Silva has stated in the past that returning to Spain would be the priority once his contract at City expired, ideally with hometown club Las Palmas. So this move isn’t all that surprising.

But the way he handled it is what left Lazio furious, as they feel he’s shown them a total lack of respect after initially giving the all-clear for the move.
