Despite FC Barcelona’s ongoing financial difficulties, Joan Laporta remains upbeat on the club’s summer transfer plans.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta plans to make around ‘three or four’ more signings in the summer.
Memphis Depay became the fourth new arrival at Camp Nou on Saturday upon agreeing to a free transfer from Lyon. His deal will become official on July 1 when the summer transfer window opens.
Manchester City duo Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia have also committed to joining Barcelona on free transfers, while Emerson Royal arrives off the back of a two-season loan spell at Real Betis.
“We will build a very competitive team,” Lapora told La Vanguardia.
“We’re already seeing it with the additions of Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero, Emerson, and from the other players who will arrive soon.
Asked on how many more signings he plans to make, Laporta replied: “Three or four.
“We missed one last week. There are state clubs that can sign any player, just wanting to is enough [for them].”
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland and former defender Alex Grimaldo are both reportedly on Barcelona’s wishlist.
Reports have also linked four more Manchester City players with moves to Catalonia recently in Aymeric Laporte, Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva, and even Riyad Mahrez.
