The French forward was the star of the show on Wednesday night, producing arguably his best performance in the Barcelona shirt.

FC Barcelona edged out Granada in a thrilling eight-goal contest in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.

It appeared Barcelona were up for a disappointment as they trailed 2-0 with two minutes of normal time remaining – but Antoinne Griezmann was determined not to let that happen.

Griezmann found the net in the 88th minute and set Jordi Alba up for the equalizer in the 92nd minute to force the match into extra-time.

The Frenchman then made it 3-2 only for Fede Vico to level the scoreline again. Frenkie De Jong again put his side on the front foot before Alba, assisted by Griezmann again, snatched a 5-3 win for Barcelona.

“I’m really pleased with Griezmann,” said Ronald Koeman, via AS. “I know it’s really important for him. The team needs him. With his effectiveness, we’re more dangerous.

Koeman added on his side’s victory: “You have to highlight the team’s mentality because we never gave up. We had really bad luck with the woodwork. We did everything to win the game.

“We deserved it due to the mentality of the team, but on this occasion, we showed we know how to suffer. We knew how to defend the result and we deserved the win.”
