What a wild night we just witnessed in Los Carmenes between FC Barcelona and Granada. Nobody was expecting such a major level of excitement and frustration from both sides. Ronald Koeman is starting to get his players used to suffering during these crunch matches regardless of the competition. The Granada players made things extremely difficult for the Catalan club with a shocking 2-0 preliminary result. Initially, Kenedy scored the opening goal after a defensive mistake from Antoine Griezmann.

After the break, Roberto Soldado scored the second goal that left Barcelona against the ropes. The Blaugranas didn’t pull one back until the final two minutes of the second half. Ironically, Griezmann was the one who led a spectacular comeback that extended to extra time. He scored the first goal for his side after a classic assist from the deep delivered by Messi. Before the final whistle, the French forward found Jordi Alba to score the dramatic equalizer.

Griezmann and Messi defeat a brave Granada.

Extra time wasn’t what Barcelona expected either, they found the winning goal through a Griezmann header. However, Granada found fortune after a penalty was awarded when Dest committed a foul inside the box. Vico scored the equalizer for Granada to Barcelona’s dismay. But the locals could hold the line for a limited period of time.

The Blaugrana scored another two goals during the second extra time through De Jong and Jordi Alba. Griezmann’s second assist was an exquisite cross to Alba from the heart of the box. With the final 3-5 result, Ronald Koeman’s squad get to the Copa del Rey semifinals in a dramatic manner.
