After his most recent performances, Ousmane Dembele received some high praise from Ronald Koeman about a specific talent of his.

Things have drastically changed between Ronald Koeman and Ousmane Dembele in less than a month. It was during the beginning of October when the Dutch manager cast doubts on the French winger’s future at the Catalan club. From that moment forward, Dembele only started looking forward and working hard.

There were several instances of his improvement both on the training ground and on the pitch. But his most recent performance against Juventus was the tipping point for Koeman. FC Barcelona suddenly has several attacking options with Messi, Ansu Fati, Pedri, Trincao, and Dembele.

Only Griezmann is not going through the best moment but he is also working hard to return. With the match against Alaves right around the corner, Koeman wanted to give Ousmane a plus that hints at another possible start.

Koeman points out Dembele’s best skill.

When Neymar left Barcelona in 2017, the club quickly started looking for the player who could replace a specific skill the Brazilian had. The one-on-one dribble is something that very few footballers in the world possess at the highest level. Dembele showed he had this during the only season he played at Borussia Dortmund. However, he may have gotten to Barcelona a little too soon. Injuries came and his level of performance diminished dramatically.

But talking to Sport, Koeman thinks those injury-prone days are gone for Dembele: “What has influenced his performance have been injuries, today he is physically much better and has participated in games. He is creative, he has a lot of speed, and the team needs people to go one against one because you create spaces and lose balls in areas of the field that are not important. He can improve but above all seek one-on-one, enter the wing and improve some tactical aspects but the important thing for him is that he is physically well.”
