Despite the fantastic performance displayed by the young Barcelona star, Ronald Koeman says he has things to work on.

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman suggested that rising prospect Ansu Fati should develop his concentrations during the game.

Evidently, people think that the youngster will potentially replace the six-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi. Fati will turn 18 this Saturday, following his excellent start to the new year. The Spain international managed to rack five goals along with three assists in seven outings during this season.

However, Koeman mentioned that Fati needs to put in efforts to further improve his game.

“Yesterday we were talking about the issue of concentration for a while. In that sense he has to improve because sometimes his turnovers are due to concentration and not quality,” the coach said when asked in a press conference how the young star can improve his already impressive game.

“In that sense, he has to improve and he has our help every day. He is a great talent and we have to help him improve things in his progress. You have to be prepared every day to improve.”

In need of a comeback.

Furthermore, Fati will hope to help Barcelona recoup from a slow start to the season ahead of this week’s clash vs Alaves. As shocking as it may sound, Leo Messi’s side stands 12th in the La Liga table with two games in hand to make it up for the poor form.

Though, Barcelona will lack the mindfulness of Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Samuel Umtiti for the game. The pair only managed to appear for two training sessions following injury issues.

Koeman said: “Marc is fine, but he needs a couple more training sessions.

“Today Samuel has completed part of the training with the group, but he still needs some more to be able to return.”

In the meantime, Koeman gave reasons as to why Riqui Puig is not in the squad. “It is a technical decision, normally we have taken 23 players, but for me, it is too much, the best is 20 or 21 players,” the former Netherlands defender said. “He will stay in Barcelona and have some intense training in case I need him another day.”

The Barcelona team will play this weekend with high spirits after their 2-0 win against Juventus in the Champions League.
