After receiving a vote of confidence from the club president, the Dutch manager is determined to take Barca to the heights of success.

Ronald Koeman feels “relieved” after receiving the confirmation on his future by Joan Laporta and is now looking forward to “building a winning Barcelona”.

Uncertainty had surrounded Koeman’s future in light of Barcelona falling short in both La Liga and the Champions League but Laporta confirmed on Friday the Dutchman will continue in his position as manager for the 2021/22 season.

According to Goal, the former defender could even be offered a one-year extension should he deliver the desired results next season.

The Catalan club are working hard towards improving their squad, with Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia, and Emerson already added to the ranks and Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay’s arrival expected soon.

“I’m relieved to say that my players and staff can fully focus on the new season now,” Koeman said via a Twitter post.

“The last few weeks have been intense, but I’m glad that President Joan Laporta gave his support to me and calm has been restored.

“The focus of everyone at the club is the same; building a winning Barcelona and achieving success.”
