The question marks over the Dutchman’s future in Catalunya vanishes as the Barca board decides to let him continue in his position as head coach.

Ronald Koeman will remain the FC Barcelona manager for the 2021/22 season, club president Joan Laporta has confirmed.

Koeman’s debut managerial season at Barcelona had mixed reviews, with one section of the fanbase happy with him for delivering silverware while another skeptical of his methodologies.

Many wanted to see him get replaced by club legend Xavi Hernandez, who is currently managing Qatari side Al Sadd.

While opinions are divided over his ability to guide the club to a new era, the vast majority of the fans agree he has done a great job in bringing stability at Camp Nou after a disaster of a season that was 2019/20.

“After this period of reflection, vice-president Rafael Yuste and myself have agreed that we will continue with the current contract that Ronald Koeman has,” the official Barcelona website quotes Laporta.

“We are very satisfied to see that these conversations have resulted in a unity of opinion.

“We see the coach very motivated and he already has a year of experience in this dressing room, which we will try to make more competitive. I think Koeman comes out on top because he is the coach we want.”
