Inconsistency has been a cause of worry for the Catalan giants this season due to which they find themselves 10 points off the tabletop.

Ronald Koeman is not ready to give up on FC Barcelona’s title hopes.

In their opening 20 matches in La Liga so far, Barcelona have dropped a least one point on eight occasions already, drawing four and losing as many.

The Blaugrana lost out in the title race last season by just four points to bitter rivals Real Madrid, and, as things stand, they are in the danger of missing out again, although this time to a different team from Madrid.

Koeman’s men occupy fourth place in La Liga standings, seven points below leaders Atletico Madrid and three below second-placed Real Madrid.

“There is always hope,” the Barcelona boss said ahead of the trip to Real Betis on Sunday, via Marca. “There is a big gap in terms of points and [Atletico] have played a game less.

“We have to keep winning games but it’s very difficult. We are hopeful because we have improved in many aspects.”

Koeman added on the previous 5-3 win against Granada: “I can’t deny that the other day I was very happy after the game. I don’t know for how long. Today it’s sunny and tomorrow it may rain,” he said.

“I really liked the game the other day, but tomorrow is another game. We have to prove ourselves yet again that we are on the right track.”
