Ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming match, Jurgen Klopp wanted to heap some praise to one of Leeds United’s most important players.
Leeds United is pretty much saved from relegation regardless of their next result against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The Reds are about to face Marcelo Bielsa’s squad in a dire situation as they fight to get that Top Four position. Klopp is aware of the complicated visit they have on Monday Night Football at Elland Road. Out of all the players his side will face, Klopp is especially happy with how one specific player turned out.
Patrick Bamford has been one of this season’s most impressive revelations. For a player who just came from the Championship, Bamford is fourth on the Premier League’s top-scorers chart with 14 goals. For Jurgen Klopp, his story is right down his alley in terms of underdogs. We wouldn’t be surprised if the German manager attempted to sign Patrick on the next transfer window.
Klopp loves how Bamford silenced his critics.
It’s true, Patrick Bamford was heavily criticized at the start of the season and regarded as a mid-level striker. Klopp loved how the narrative started shifting around him as he kept scoring goals. Ahead of Monday’s match, this is what Klopp said via Express: “What a player, Bamford! I can remember, I’m pretty sure before the season I heard on talkSPORT, people saying that Leeds need a proper goalscorer, Bamford is not good enough, stuff like this.
“I’m so happy that he could prove them all wrong! He’s an exceptional player. The work-rate is outstanding, and he still plays the football he plays on top of that, and scores goals. That’s rare. They have a lot of interesting players, but Bamford, I’m really happy for him. I don’t know him, obviously, but it’s a nice career, a little bit later than others but still very impressive.”
