Former Reds defender Glen Johnson has advised manager Jurgen Klopp on two new signings that could lead to more titles.

Lorenzo Insigne and Marco Verratti would be ‘ideal signings for Liverpool’, says Glen Johnson.

The duo starred for Italy this summer on route to Euro 2020 glory and have commanded respect down the years for their respective performances at club level both domestically and in Europe.

This has convinced Johnson of their title-winning credentials for a move to Anfield as Liverpool seek to reclaim the Premier League trophy from Manchester City in the upcoming season.

“I really like Lorenzo Insigne,” the former full-back told BettingOdds.com.

“He’s been brilliant for years, but he performed very well during the Euros. I just enjoy the way he plays and I think he would suit Liverpool too.

“I like Marco Verratti as well. They’re two huge names so it’s not rocket science choosing them as ideal signings for Liverpool.

“During the Euros, you could see both of their desire to win and that’s what’s needed if you’re going to win league titles. You need those sorts of characters.”

How is Liverpool’s transfer business going?

The Reds have made one signing so far this summer in Ibrahima Konate, who arrived in a €40 million deal from RB Leipzig.

The biggest departure this summer was Georginio Wijnaldum, who opted for a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. Harry Wilson, meanwhile, has joined Fulham in the Championship in a €14 million deal. Liverpool have also sold Taiwo Awoniyi to German side Union Berlin for €6.5m, while midfielder Marko Grujic has gone out on loan to FC Porto in Portugal.

Ozan Kabak, on the other hand, has returned to Schalke after spending the second half of last season on loan at Liverpool.
