A man who led Germany to a World Cup final is convinced that the Liverpool manager will one day become national team coach.
Joachim Low might have guided Germany to World Cup glory but he appears to be on borrowed time as of now.
Die Mannschaft’s elimination from the Nations League after the 6-0 humbling by Spain put Low’s position at risk. The manager’s persistence to keep the team’s experienced players – Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng, and Mats Hummels – is also a decision not welcomed by many.
Calls have been made for a change in management, with the European tournament fast approaching and with the 60-year-old seemingly unable to reshape the team in a way to attract success.
Jurgen Klopp’s name has come up a few times, with the underlying belief that the Liverpool boss would be willing to take up a different challenge after enjoying much success at club level.
A former Germany coach believes Klopp will indeed take the team’s reins in future but for now, Low remains the correct man for the job.
“He is one of the few German coaches who decide for themselves when to become the national coach,” stated Voller as a guest on the talk show Sky90.
“I do believe that Jogi Low can still do it for a while, but at some point, it will be Jurgen Klopp.”
