The Real Madrid striker can make club history in the upcoming Champions League game against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Karim Benzema can equal Roberto Carlos’ tally of 527 official appearances to become the foreigner to have played the most games for Real Madrid.

The Frenchman is expected to start in the club’s must-win Champions League match away to Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday night.

Doing so will make Benzema the joint-record holder for the foreigner with the most appearances in Real Madrid history alongside Carlos on 527, according to Marca.

He can take the record for himself in Saturday’s derby against Atletico Madrid.

Los Blancos teammate Marcelo isn’t off on the list either, having made 515 appearances himself. Although the left-back is no longer a regular in the line-up and, therefore, has lost ground to Benzema in this aspect.

Benzema, though, has endured no such problems and continues to be the main man in the attack. He’s scored six goals in 13 appearances this season, including four in LaLiga, and will hope to chip in a few more in Germany.
