The Spurs star scored his first league goal of the season on Sunday, further etching his name into the history books in the process.

Harry Kane opened his Premier League goalscoring account of the 2021-22 season in Tottenham’s match against Newcastle United.

Kane’s effort was an admirable one as he flicked the ball over a rushing Karl Darlow and into the back of the net, helping Tottenham turn the tie on its head and spoil the party for Newcastle on an occasion that marked the beginning of their new era.

The striker’s effort was initially disallowed as the linesman had deemed him offside but VAR let the goal stand after replays proved that he had beaten the offside trap.

Kane’s strike at St. James’ Park was his 88th one on the road in the league, and he moved past Alan Shearer into second place in the list of players with most away goals in the Premier League history.

Newcastle legend Shearer found the back of the net 87 times in 219 matches away from home. At the top of that list sits Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney with 94 goals in 243 away games.
