Kane will have a chance to up his goal tally in the tournament when he takes to the pitch for the semi-final tie against Denmark tonight.

Harry Kane is fully focussed on winning Euro 2020 with England and “doesn’t care” about the Golden Boot, says Jose Mourinho.

Kane lacked his usual efficiency in front of goal earlier in the tournament but found his finishing touch in the knockout stages, scoring in England’s 2-0 win over Germany bagged a brace in the 4-0 thrashing of Ukraine.

The striker is still behind in the race for the Euro 2020 Golden Boot but not by much. He needs just two more goals to go level with Cristiano Ronaldo, who struck five times before Portugal suffered elimination in Round of 16.

However, a manager who has worked with both the players suggests the England skipper is not stressing over beating the Portugal captain to the prestigious prize.

“I don’t think he cares about the Golden Boot, I don’t think he cares, honestly,” Mourinho told of Kane to talkSPORT.

“I think he would care about it if he feels England has no chance to win it, and he probably thinks I cannot win the big one with England, so let me win, or try to win, the individual one for myself.

“I spoke with him when he was on zero goals, and he was happy – because the team was winning. He was not worried about his zero goals record. He didn’t really care about it.

“And then I spoke with him after he’d scored three goals and of course the happiness was there but the happiness had doubled with the fact he was getting closer to the final and this is the only thing he thinks about.

“He wants to win it. He has a few individual awards already, but he doesn’t want this one. He wants to win the Euros. That’s what he has in mind.”
