Former Tottenham striker Teddy Sheringham is convinced Harry Kane has already hinted what his future plans are.
Harry Kane’s comments about Kevin De Bruyne suggest a move to Manchester City is inevitable, says Teddy Sheringham.
In an interview with Gary Neville back in May, Kane described De Bruyne as ‘a striker’s dream’. The Englishman openly admitted the ‘special’ midfielder would help him score more goals in the Premier League.
These remarks not only encouraged interest from De Bruyne’s club, Manchester City, but also left Sheringham convinced the ‘writing has got to be on the wall’ regarding Kane’s future plans.
“As soon as he put out his statement a couple of months ago, just before the Euros, it was happening, for me,” Sheringham, who scored 112 goals in 263 games for Spurs, told talkSPORT of Kane’s future.
“I think he’s probably had a chat with [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy. I know there’s been even more speculation over the last couple of days, but I think he’s probably had a chat and said, ‘look, you’ve been a great servant to the club, if we get the right money for you, you can go’, I would think.
“Everyone is being very quiet on it at the moment. But for Harry to come out and say he wants to play with someone like Kevin De Bruyne and the players at Manchester City, the writing has got to be on the wall, hasn’t it?”
What’s the latest on Kane’s future?
The 27-year-old has made it no secret that he seeks a new challenge. One that would enable him to challenge for trophies and reach the levels of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Levy has reportedly rejected a £100 million bid from Manchester City this summer. The Spurs chairman is reluctant to lose Kane, but the striker’s desire to leave could force a sale.
The Mirror has stated Pep Guardiola’s side could wait until the end of the summer transfer window on August 31 for Kane.
