Harry Kane hailed Tottenham’s resilience to secure all three points against West Brom in what was a tightly contested affair.

Harry Kane was the hero of the day as Tottenham left it late to grab a narrow win against West Brom on Sunday afternoon.

On paper, Spurs were expected to blow out their opponents but it was far from it. The Baggies were well composed in defense and frustrated Mourinho’s men in a game that was headed for a stalemate.

Two minutes from time, Kane connected with a cross from Matt Doherty to head in his seventh goal of the season.

That header was enough to seal the win for Spurs who momentarily went top of the Premier League standings. It was also a milestone for the player who hit 150 goals in a Tottenham jersey.

Looking at the grand scheme of things, the England captain says crucial points like that could help his side on the long term in the title race.

“They always feel better when you win the game,” Kane said as quoted by Express Sport.

“It was a big battle. Second half we played a lot better than the first. It was just about getting that breakthrough and thankfully a got a little header in to mark the 150.”

“As the game opened up, we were creating more chances.”

“They blocked a couple off the line, the ‘keeper made some good saves. We had to keep persisting.

“When you nick one with a few minutes left, it’s just about defending your lead and we did that.”

Kane continued: “The last few games, you’ve seen us dig deep. These are the points you might look back on in March, April that were massive so we have to keep it going.

“We’d have taken being top of the league at this stage at the start of the season but we know there are a lot of big games to come. So far, so good.”

Speaking before the game, Harry Kane indeed backed his side to put up a title challenge this term, insisting it won’t be one-way traffic for Liverpool.
