Juventus have suffered a big blow to their backline ahead of the crunch Serie A game.

Juventus have suffered a Covid outbreak during the winter holidays. On Friday, the club confirmed Carlo Pinsoglio and Arthur Melo have tested positive for COVID-19. However, as it has been with a big group of European clubs, more cases have started to emerge at Juventus.

The club have now announced that Giorgio Chiellini has tested positive for the virus.

The Bianconeri’s official announcement reads: “Juventus Football Club announces that, during today’s screening procedures for the resumption of competitive activity, Giorgio Chiellini tested positive for Covid-19.

The player is already observing the foreseen measures and has been placed in isolation, in compliance with the health protocol in force.”

This is a major blow for Juventus ahead of their crucial match against Napoli. The Bianconeri hope to continue their pre-holiday form when the Serie A re-starts. However, there is a chance that Serie A would postpone the game altogether as Napoli are also dealing with an outbreak.

Hirving Lozano, Lorenzo Insigne, and Fabian Ruiz have all tested positive for the virus in the past week. However, they might recover in time for the game.

The Bianconeri see two tough weeks ahead of them. Following their game against Napoli, Juventus will have to face Roma in their next match on Sunday. The Bianconeri will then take on Inter three days later.
