The Bianconeri’s injury crisis at the back has worsened as yet another center-back has now set for a spell on the treatment table.
Merih Demiral has been ruled out of Juventus’ next two games after sustaining a muscle injury, the club confirmed on Monday.
The 22-year-old picked up a knock in his side’s 2-0 victory over Cagliari on Saturday and will now remain on the sidelines for about 10 days and subsequently miss games against Ferencvaros and Benevento.
Juve take on Ferencvaros for the Champions League group stage matchday 4 match before taking on Benevento away from home in Serie A round 9.
“Merih Demiral was subjected to an MRI at the J|Medical today and revealed an elongation of the right iliopsoas muscle,” a statement on Juve’s social media read.
“Recovery time is approximately 10 days. The Turkish defender will therefore miss the next games against Ferencvaros in the Champions League and Benevento in the League.
“We evaluate a possible return against Dynamo Kiev on December 2.”
Demiral’s injury will come off as a huge blow for Andrea Pirlo, who is also without Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini.
As for positive news, midfielder Aaron Ramsey has recovered from his thigh injury and has trained with the rest of the Juventus team.
