Juventus met Napoli in the Italian Super Cup this evening for the first title of the 2020-21 season. We got tonight’s player ratings.

Cristiano Ronaldo has done it again for Juventus, this time against Napoli in the Italian Super Cup. In the first title delivered in Italy during 2021, the Bianconeri confronted their most hated rival in the country for some silverware. On the bench, we have a friendly rivalry between Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso. But on the pitch, we had Cristiano Ronaldo aiming to break the all-time record as the world’s top goal-scorer ever.

It took him a while to get there, but the day finally came for the Portuguese legend. The first half was more inclined in Napoli’s favor with Hirving Lozano having the best chance before the break. A potent header was denied by the goalkeeper and gave Ronaldo the lifeline he expected. The Mexican forward was one of the best players on the pitch during the first half, but Napoli gave Ronaldo a chance to breathe.

Cristiano Ronaldo becomes eternal.

Even if Pele complains about this feat, Cristiano Ronaldo finally got to break the record as the world’s top goal-scorer in football history. It happened with a corner kick that gave him the chance to push the ball in the back of the net. That was more than enough for the star to reach the stars with a unique record only Messi can surpass.

Lorenzo Insigne had a chance to level the scoreline after McKennie committed a penalty against him. But Szczęsny denied him from the spot and left him with a broken heart. In the final minutes, Juan Cuadrado set Alvaro Morata for the second goal that killed Napoli and gave Juventus the Italian Super Cup.
