Juventus’ Stadium was the place where the Bianconeri played a crucial Serie A match against Atalanta on Wednesday. We have player ratings.
After two consecutive good performances from Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus was coming to face Atalanta filled with confidence at Juventus Stadium. However, Giampiero Gasperini wanted to give hell to the Bianconeri at their own ground. With a stellar starting XI, the locals went all in to get the victory but they found a combative group of players who never gave up until the final whistle. Federico Chiesa opened the scoreboard with a potent shot to the top corner that gave Juventus the chance to dream of another three points.
Alvaro Morata had the biggest miss of the game after failing to combine well with Cristiano Ronaldo during a counter-attack. After Cris missed his shot, the Spaniard attempted a backheel finish that wasn’t great and prevented his side from claiming another goal. The second half was about to get even more interesting for both sides after such a difficult first half.
Ronaldo misses the winning goal.
The start of the second half gave us another fantastic solo goal from Freuler, who took a page from Chiesa’s playbook and scored a true screamer. Three minutes after Atalanta’s equalizer, Juventus got awarded a penalty in which Ronaldo stood to take the shot. Unfortunately, Cristiano was denied by Gollini and prevented the star from claiming the winning goal.
For the remainder of the second half, Juventus attempted to score another goal but they weren’t able to get any more. This Atalanta side deserved the result they got against one of the most competitive football clubs in the world. Better luck next time for Cristiano Ronaldo, who simply didn’t have his night.
