Ace Football previews the Serie A match between Juventus and Atalanta, and offers betting tips, odds, line-ups, and team news.

Atalanta’s improved run of form will be put to the test on Wednesday in a trip to Turin to take on unbeaten Serie A champions Juventus.

The clubs meet on the back of convincing victories last weekend to elevate themselves up in the standings. Atalanta are currently ninth and six points behind fourth-placed Juventus, but do have a game in hand.

Past encounters between these two sides have been fairly close as well, having drawn three of their last four league meetings. The last one ended in a 2-2 draw in Turin last July, with two Cristiano Ronaldo penalties saving Juve.

But Atalanta, who defeated Liverpool at Anfield 2-0 in the Champions League last month, are confident they can go one better even if the hosts appear to have clicked into gear recently.

Juventus Form & Stats

Andrea Pirlo is still undefeated 11 games into his maiden campaign as a coach. It’s been a relatively decent start, but Juventus have still lost valuable ground in the title battle by slipping up in games, that on paper at least, they should’ve won.

Things appear to have reached a turning point recently, though, as the Bianconeri are on a five-match winning run with only one goal conceded following a 3-1 win over Genoa last weekend.

Ronaldo made the difference again by smashing home two penalties to wrap up all three points. The Portuguese ace has now scored 31 Serie A goals in 2020, making him only the third player in the club’s history to break the 30-goal mark in a calendar year.

Weston McKennie, meanwhile, continued his own impressive form by assisting Paulo Dybala’s opener against Genoa. The American has now tallied two goals and an assist in his last three games alone.

Key Team Stats
  • Won 8 of their last 10 games in all competitions (D2).
  • Drawn their last two home league games against Atalanta.
  • Exactly 3 goals in 3 of their 5 home league games this season.
  • Won 4 of their 5 home league games this season
  • Unbeaten in their last 23 home league games against Atalanta (W18 D5).
  • BTTS in 8 of their 11 league games this season.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 3 goals in 3 league games against Atalanta.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 4 penalties in his last 2 games in all competitions.

Atalanta Form & Stats

After a run of just one win in six Serie A games, Atalanta returned to winning ways last weekend by beating Fiorentina 3-0. Robin Gosens, Ruslan Malinovskyi, and Rafael Toloi were all on target.

It was only Atalanta’s second clean sheet of their league campaign and came just days after beating Ajax 1-0 in the Champions League to qualify for the last-16 in the competition for a second successive season.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, therefore, can now focus completely on moving up in the league table. Ninth-place with five wins in 10 matches (D2 L3) is a below-par start for them. But they do have a game in hand over their rivals, including Wednesday’s opponents Juventus.

It’s also worth nothing Atalanta have performed well on the road this season, having won six of their eight away games (D1 L1) in all competitions. They even kept three clean sheets in a row against Spezia, Liverpool, and Ajax.

Key Team Stats
  • Won 6 of their last 8 away games in all competitions (D1 L1).
  • Kept a clean sheet in their last 3 away games in all competitions.
  • Penalty awarded in 5 of their last 10 games against Juventus.
  • 4 or more cards in their last 10 games against Juventus.
  • Duvan Zapata has scored 7 goals in his last 7 games against Juventus in all competitions.
