Giovanni Reyna sees Jadon Sancho as a source of inspiration and is keen on following in his footsteps as he aims to make a name for himself.

Borussia Dortmund’s Giovanni Reyna became the youngest American ever to appear in Bundesliga when he came on as a substitute in the match against Augsburg back in January.

In February, he also became the youngest goalscorer in German Cup history when he hit his first professional goal in a DFB-Pokal Round of 16 match against Werder Bremen.

Reyna went on to make 18 appearances in total for BVB last season. And he has been continuing his development process well in pre-season, scoring three goals in two matches so far.

The 17-year old is yet another gem, waiting to get polished, in a team full of exciting young talents such as Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, and Jadon Sancho.

And Reyna is happy to take advice from Sancho, who also joined the club as a teenager and is now one of the most prolific players in Bundesliga.

“He was 17, like me now, and he has made his way from a talented youth player to one of the top stars in the Bundesliga. That is the goal of every player and of course mine too,” Reyna talked about Sancho in an interview with Sport Bild

“He tells me to be confident and trust my strengths. He encourages me when things don’t go well. After making mistakes, he doesn’t doubt himself but just keeps going. Jadon is so good for a reason.”
