Jesse Lingard is glad to be back enjoying his football again after bagging a brace on a memorable debut for West Ham last night.

In search of more regular football, Jesse Lingard joined West Ham on loan as he looked to kick-start his career.

The on-loan midfielder made an instant impact for the Hammers with a brilliant display on what was his first Premier League start in 399 days.

Lingard fell out of favor at Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but shone as West Ham moved to within two points of the Champions.

He scored a brace on the evening and even earned praise from manager David Moyes following an impressive 3-1 win at Villa Park.

Back on the pitch and showing his abilities, the midfielder says he has settled well with the Hammers and hopes to build some momentum before the end of the season.

“I just love football and enjoy playing football. When you enjoy football, you get the rewards,” he said to the West Ham official website after his debut.

“The lads helped me settle in at the start of the week and have been really welcoming.”

“I fitted into the team fairly quickly and got used to everybody. Three points is much deserved.”

Lingard was a shock name in the West Ham starting line-up but he justified Moyes’ decision with a brace and an all-round brilliant display to go with.

“I like to get on the ball and try and make things happen,” he continued.

“I felt fairly confident coming into the game, I just wanted to get out on the pitch and play.

“I’ve waited all that time to finally be on that pitch and enjoy that moment.”

“I’ve been on at myself about being clinical in front of goal and being ruthless. I had a couple [of chances] in the first half that maybe should have gone in, but I kept going, getting in the right positions and the two came off.”
